Richard Thai

Dr. Richard Thai earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences, where he served as a Pre-Doctoral Teaching Fellow in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and graduated with honors as a member of the Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of California, Irvine, where he also served as Chief Resident in his final year.

Following residency, Dr. Thai pursued subspecialty training through a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

In his approach to medicine, Dr. Thai believes that while traditional medicine seeks to add years to one’s life, the role of a physiatrist is to add life to those years. His philosophy centers on relieving pain, restoring function, and empowering patients to regain independence and enhance quality of life through a comprehensive, compassionate, and patient-centered approach.

Dr. Thai dedicates a portion of his professional time to serving those who have served our country. He practices in the VA Long Beach Healthcare System, where he leads his team as the Section Chief of Pain Medicine.

Dr. Thai is excited to be a part of the Newport Concierge Physicians family, where he continues to provide individualized, evidence-based care to help patients live fuller, more active lives.
